We call this soft landscaping and, being horticulturists, it is probably the area we enjoy most. We can either draw up planting plans or simply beef up existing planting with a selection of suitable plants brought in just for you. We have installed summer bedding schemes and undertaken specialist herbaceous and alpine planting for private and commercial gardens.
We have undertaken large scale tree planting for large commercial clients and are happy to supply and plant large standard and heavy standard trees in the Brighton and Lewes areas. We are also happy to provide advice on appropriate tree selection and source trees for the client.
We tend to use aggregates as a softening / infilling material within a whole garden design and we use rocks to create layered low planting on slopes or banks. We usually use a membrane underneath aggregates which provides a cheap weed-suppressing layer that can be planted through with shrubs and ground cover. Gravel and cobbles can also be integrated well with planting and paving to allow drainage.
Our experience with ponds is mostly informal; we prefer to build naturalistic ponds with graded curvy edges to allow wildlife access to the water. We often integrate rock work and planting to create wild ponds and have rescued a number of leaky concrete lined ponds and brought them back to life.
